Throwback Thursday! 2nd Year Coat design

Happy Throwback Thursday!
This is my coat design from my second year of college (the first time around). The picture on the right is the actual coat from a photo shoot that I did with a photography student from my school! The lower photo is the mood board for a potential coat line. The collection is for Fall/ Winter and is called Valiant Orienteer and displays pieces that take inspiration from an outdoorsy customer. The coat is made from a lightweight cotton canvas with a kasha lining and shear-ling collar for warmth. Snaps line the centre front of the jacket and the drawstring waist creates a more form fitting look. The hood is also detachable so you can create a look similar to the left.

Leave a comment if you would like to see more of the pieces that I have created on Thursdays!

Pretty Peplum

So for my trend class myself and two other people had to create a trend board for a specific decade, or designer. We decided to go with 1940's the decade with war, women taking men's places in the workforce and Dior coming out with "The New Look".
I personally love Dior and was inspired by this particular photo
To create something with the peplum and came up with this!
This style of top and silhouette is a very popular trend for the spring/summer seasons and is sometimes seen with sleeves and with a more rounded neck. As you can see I opened the neckline, made it sleeveless and added a low back with a cut-out. I am very tempted to take this design to paper and make one for myself!

It is February and I want it to be June

Hello hello!
As stated by the title, it is February and I want it to be June. I can't seem to escape the cold air or the weather for that matter. I consider February the worst month for winter and so it has been. It's still snowing, slushy wet snow covers the side walks and some roads, and I'm at constant risk of being splashed by passing cars or buses (YAY). Despite the well known Canadian weather patterns I have designed a dress with a wintry inspiration, pieces of fabric styled as icicles, and a dress in a cool light blue. It also has been inspired by spring and the warmer months of the year. As shown it is strapless knee length dress and would be made from light crepes and organzas. Hopefully this design makes you want the weather to warm up as much as I would like it to!

Much Love
